The Sleep Disorders Center at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro has six sleeping rooms and four sleeping rooms at a satellite location in Marion. The former obstetrics department was refurbished to house the new rooms as well as an office for Dr. Terry Brown, medical director, to provide him easier access to patients and staff. A larger central monitoring station was also installed to provide staff with additional workspace and a clear view of each study and related equipment.
The rooms are more spacious and each is comfortably furnished and has its own private bathroom. “The rooms are designed as a bedroom or hotel suite,” explained Kevin Kaytor, manager, sleep disorders center, “Once the patients get here they forget they’re in a sleep center. We provide them with the comforts of home.”
