Referral Bonus

The demand for quality healthcare professionals is at an all-time high. Studies suggest that this trend will continue through 2030, which puts SIH in a critical position. This requires us to implement a program that assists in filling the healthcare professional shortage. The following program has been developed to help staff the vacant positions that are currently open throughout the Southern Illinois Healthcare system. This program will be reviewed as needed, as the demand for “hard to fill” positions frequently change.

Any SIH employee (excluding executives, directors, managers, supervisors and coordinators) who refers a candidate to a “hard to fill” position (including: RN, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Special Procedures Tech, Ultrasound Tech, Nuclear Medicine Tech) who is hired by SIH will receive $2,000 over a two-year period. Distribution of funds will be as follows:

  • 10% or $200 if referral works first scheduled shift/first day of work
  • 15% or $300 if referral works six months
  • 20% or $400 if referral works one year
  • 25% or $500 if referral works eighteen months
  • 30% or $600 if referral works two years
The incremental distribution of funds is based on the employment classification of the “hard to fill” position being referred. If a referral is for a full time position (72 hours per pay period or more) the above mentioned distribution will apply. If a referral is for a part time position (between 32 and 72 hours per pay period) then the above distribution will be pro rated. No referral bonus will be paid for those hired for less than 32 hours per pay period or as per diem employee.

It is the obligation of the referred employee to notify the facility human resources department by completing a form upon hire that discloses the SIH employee that referred them. The referred employee will only be able to name one SIH employee for each referral.
